Poorman & Group provides real estate and management support. We specialize in “acquisition, valuation, development and turnaround solutions.” Over the last 35 years, we’ve formed hundreds of syndications and represented companies throughout the United States and sub-continent. Our clients include those who own and operate financially-distressed projects as well as start-ups, successful entrepreneurs, physicians and healthcare organizations.
We provide support to troubled companies, sometimes referred to as “turnaround consulting,” and alternatives to bankruptcy. Past projects include engagements with gas and oil investors, retail, wholesale, snack food, manufacturing, medical, restaurant, airline, communication and insurance firms. Services include management audits and reports, diagnostic reviews, business plans and valuations for banks, Attorneys, insurance companies, investors and even the FBI.
Our founder, Stephen Poorman, graduated from Elizabethtown College with a B.S. in Business Management and he obtained a Masters Degree from Vermont College of Norwich University. Mr. Poorman is certified by the Institute of Management Consultants, Institute of Real Estate Consultants and the National Bureau of Professional Management Consultants; he holds a paralegal certification from Penn State University. He is a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
Recognized as the Elizabethtown College “Most Enterprising Graduate,” Mr. Poorman’s other achievements include Businessman of the Year and the Heritage Award for restoration of historical properties. Steve also served on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Retailer’s Association and Governor Richard Thornburgh appointed him to the Pennsylvania Crime Commission. He acted as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO for Charles Chips, Inc. and CEO of Nibbles with Gibbles, Inc. He served on the Board of Directors of Transcription International, Bangalore, India. For 10 years, Mr. Poorman served as Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of a publicly- traded cancer treatment and ophthalmology group, the second largest radiation facility in the United States.
In recent years, Steve has been lecturing on college campuses on topics such as entrepreneurship, corporate strategy and valuing a company and has been accepted to teach business classes at the university level in the near future. He has written many articles for business and trade journals throughout the country and is currently authoring a book entitled Business Swamp Guide. His many articles have appeared in publications throughout the country, including the most recent Companies in Trouble and Turnaround Strategies for the Florida Business Review. Poorman has also owned or operated golf courses, restaurants, surgery centers, real estate agencies and various other business investments.
